The waves are pounding and calling your name.
This Saturday 2024-08-10, surfline is forecasting 3 to 5 ft waves with fair conditions and offshore wind. This is the best surf condition on a Saturday that has occurred all summer (yes, I've been checking every weekend). Time for a last minute beach trip!
We'll meet at the Dunkin donuts at 15th St and 8th Ave in Manhattan at 1pm. Then take the A train to 67th St Rockaway (without needing to transfer subways).
You can also aim to meet at Breakwater Surf Co at 2:15pm to rent surfboards (I've rented from them before, their pricing was fair, expect to pay around $50 for renting surfboard and wetsuit for the afternoon). Then aim for getting into the water around 3pm.
Water temp is around 75F, wetsuits can be rented if desired.
A 5ft wave is about head high and for intermediate surfers.
Beginner surfers can try surfing close to the shore to catch the white-water waves. (I'm also a beginner)
Everyone is welcome; you can also just come to the beach to hang out.
Bring anything you want to use/share/play, or, just travel light. Wear sunscreen.
