As artificial intelligence becomes embedded in financial markets and organizational strategy, its most profound impact may be on how decisions are made. Join us for a conversation with Alok Sama and Vasant Dhar to examine how AI is transforming decision-making at scale — what improves, what breaks, and what new responsibilities emerge when humans increasingly rely on intelligent systems. What will be the impact markets, risk, investment strategies, and ethical decision-making?
Speakers
Alok Sama currently serves as a Senior Advisor to Warburg Pincus LLC and Chairs the Advisory Board for Valhalla Ventures. He is former President & CFO of SoftBank Group International, where he led the $34 billion acquisition of Arm Holdings, the $59 billion merger of T-Mobile and Sprint and multiple growth investments across technology verticals. He has over 30 years of investment banking, capital market and investment experience in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prior to Softbank, he was a senior Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, where he led the firm's communications practice in Europe and the TMT practice in the Asia-Pacific region. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School and an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University. Alok is the author of the bestselling memoir The Money Trap: Lost Illusions Inside the Tech Bubble.
Vasant Dhar, Ph.D., is Robert A Miller Professor at NYU’s Stern School of Business and the Center for Data Science and one of the world’s leading authorities on prediction, data science, and trust in AI. He brought Machine Learning to Wall Street in the early 1990s. His research explores when we should rely on machines to make decisions — and when we must retain human oversight, and the challenges that confront us in how to govern AI. He hosts the Brave New World podcast, where he interviews thought leaders about the future of technology, ethics, and humanity. His approachable style and ability to explain complex ideas make him a sought-after commentator for healthcare, parenting, education, finance, and tech media. His latest book, Thinking with Machines: The Brave New World of AI, offers a practical framework for thriving in an AI-driven world.
