About Somatic Therapy and Art as Therapy
🫀 Somatic-centered therapy emphasizes bodily sensations in psychological healing.
🧠 Somatic psychology highlights the unity of mind and body, where negative emotions are stored as muscle memories, resulting in physical discomfort and tension.
🌞 Through body-focused art making, we can better observe and care for our bodies, as well as understand and heal our emotions, stress, and even trauma.
🎨Material Requirements:
We will provide all materials needed for the experience
Previous art experience is not required; we emphasize that every one has the right to express and explore themselves via art
About the Host:
🦋 Anny Liu - artist and art therapist based in New York. Anny graduated from UC Irvine with bachelor's degrees in Art and Psychology, and later obtained a MPS degree in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts. Besides her clinical psychotherapy practice, Anny is also dedicated to promoting mental health awareness in community environments by hosting art therapy-inspired open workshops.
